Lubbock, TX— Gruver has rolled their way into the 2A DII State Semifinals matchup against a great Lipan team, who also has had a hardly contested road to the State Semifinals matchup. The winner of this game would take a trip to San Antonio to play for a State Title in 2A DII on Thursday.

In the first quarter, the Indians jumped out to a 5-0 lead over Gruver with a layup and three-pointer from Court Gaylord before Mason Lankford started to put in some buckets for the Greyhounds including. 80-foot buzzer-beater to end the first quarter with a 16-11 lead for Gruver.

Lipan then outscored the ‘Hounds, 18-6 with clutch shooting from Brayden Harrison as he hit two threes in the quarter and the Indians led at the half, 29-22. Brock Butler had eight in the first half to keep the Greyhounds within striking distance.

In the third, the Indians got some pushback from Gruver, but when Lankford went to the bench in foul trouble, Lipan went on a 12-5 run to extend their lead to 47-35, heading into the final tilt.

In the fourth, Gruver, led by 2028 Guard Jett Pittman, went on a 12-2 run to cut the lead to 49-47 with 4:29 left in the contest. After a quick timeout by Lipan, Gaylord went on a personal 8-0 run and Gruver was forced to call a timeout, down 59-47 with 2:35 to go. The game ended with Lipan outlasting the Greyhounds, 63-53 to advance to the final in 2A DII.

Court Gaylord scored 32 for Lipan to lead all scorers, while Mason Lankford had 26 points on the night for the Greyhounds. Gruver’s first loss on the season came at the hands of the Indians. A great season for the Gruver.
