The Ropes Eagles, who come into the 2026 season as championship contenders in 2A DII after losing in the Regional Quarterfinals in 2025, hosted the Hale Center Owls; who have now moved up to 2A DI after having a great season where they went 9-2 for Coach Puente.
As I looked at the entire scrimmage, one of the notes that stood out to me was the effectiveness of the Eagles pushing the ball down the field. Chase Lantelme, who moved into Ropes from Stratford, threw a touchdown pass to Kolter Dockery along with Pittman as well. Their running game was somewhat stalled by a tenacious Hale Center defense who held their own for the most part of the contest.
If I’m Hale Center, I’m optimistic because they hung in there with the third-ranked team in the state and showed flashes during the game! The Owls won’t see another team that good for a long time, so they should build on what they saw and they will be just fine.
We’ll tune in during the season to check on both teams as they navigate through their 2A schedules.
