3A/2A WEEK TWO RECAP: SLATON IS 2-0 AND NEW DEAL TOUGHED OUT A STRONG ROAD WIN..

Week two was an eventful one in 806 Football as the New Deal Lions bested the Roosevelt Eagles, 24-21 in a tough victory that came down to the last seconds, while Sunray shutout the Abernathy Antelopes, 39-0. Here is a recap of all the 3A and 2A action for week two.

New Deal he a great win over Roosevelt Friday: Jasone Pearson

New Deal improved to 2-0 on the season with an impressive 24-21 over the Eagles from Roosevelt; who will be another hard team to deal with in 3A DII regardless of this outcome. Nate Casarez and Gavino Webster played their hearts out Friday for the Eagles but it wasn’t enough as the Lions won the trench game on Friday and will look to go to 3-0 this weekend when they play Slaton… Yes, that Slaton team who is 2-0 for the first time since 2019 with their win over Brownfield, 34-14.

Also, how about Panhandle?!?! The Panthers took down Stratford with a walk-off touchdown from Broxton Robinson to win the game, 33-27 in Overtime. Bushland made a statement in a top-five matchup in 3A DI and DII with a 42-21 win over Canadian while Idalou improved to 2-0 with a win over Lubbock-Cooper Liberty, 33-27 in Overtime as well! Ralls, Hale Center and Wellington blew out their opponents, Lubbock Christian thumped Sundown and Sudan beat Tahoka, 67-60! Wow!
