Ropesville, TX— The 806 regular scrimmage season started off with a bang as #10 Ropes hosted the New Deal Lions as both teams come into 2025 with lofty expectations in their respective classes, and should make deep runs in the tournament.

In the first set of Varsity vs Varsity, New Deal’s offense made some progress but was eventually stopped before not scoring on their first set of plays. Ropes, on their turn to go against New Deal’s starters on defense, looked impressive. They took nine plays and scored on a rushing touchdown before switching to the back-up players.

Both teams will make deep runs this season and have some depth on both sides. The scrimmage was short, but both teams got to see what they needed to work on, and what they like in the contest.

I talked with Coach Beau Riker of Ropes after the game and this is what he said.
