This season will be one of the most wide open district races for a lot of teams, but I don’t think that will be so in 2-5A DI as Abilene is the clear favorite to take the district crown. This team is loaded and has a ton of experience and one of the best receivers in the game in Ryland Bradford; who has committed to UTEP in the 2025 class at the Wide Receiver position.

Now, what we would all like to know is who is going to take second, third and fourth place this fall in District 2-5A DI. Let’s start with Monterey. In last week’s game against Odessa, the Plainsmen put up 659 yards of offense in their loss to 6A Odessa. 57-49. If Coach Thrash can get his defense together and make some crucial adjustments, they could finish second!

Tascosa, led by players Ike TJ Tillman, could also finish second, or finish third or fourth. Can the Rebels and Coach Plunk figure out a way to get some stops in these district games? That will determine how far they go. Caprock, Lubbock High and Coronado will fight for that last playoff spot as I think Amarillo will finish third.

Can the Mustangs reverse their early fortunes as they have lost three-straight games after winning their first contest against WF Memorial. Coach Roy will have to find some consistency at the Quarterback position or the Mustangs will struggle the rest of the season and may not make the playoffs again like last season.

Here are the matchups for tomorrow’s 2-5A DI Action
Abilene vs Caprock
Monterey vs Amarillo
Tascosa vs Coronado
Lubbock- Off
