The awards for Monterey High School’s Aaliyah Chavez are starting to roll in, and they will for the rest of the season as she is the best player in the Country on the women’s side of high school basketball in the 2025 class. In a press release just announced on ESPN, Chavez has been named as a 2025 McDonald’s All-American and has been selected to play in the 2025 game.

The 2025 McDonald’s All-American high school basketball game will be held on April 1, 2025 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The game will feature 24 boys and 24 girls competing in an East vs. West showdown. Aaliyah becomes the first-ever Lubbock player to be named as an McDonald’s All-American and the fourth 806 women’s high school player to ever be selected.
The other three players were:
- Brooke Baughman- Canyon HS, 2003
- Kalee Carey- Canyon HS, 2003
- Darrice Griffin- Seagraves HS, 2004
Aaliyah has already surpassed 4,000 points in her illustrious career and is atop the leaderboard Nationally in a couple of stats and first in Texas in a bunch of stats. Here are the numbers for Chavez below.

- 408 FIELD GOALS MADE (1st in the Nation)
- 156 THREE POINTERS (1st in the Nation)
- 206 FREE THROWS MADE. (1st In Texas, 2nd in the Nation)
- 35.7 Points Per Game (1st in Texas, 4th in the Nation)
