For the girls side of basketball, the season is coming to an end and the playoffs are about to start off strong! Let’s not forget that this season the big school and small schools will be split into two and only the CHAMPIONSHIP game will be at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

So, let’s look at a couple of districts that have huge games coming tomorrow; particularly Estacado’s Lady Matadors and the Tascosa Lady Rebels.

A huge district game will take place at Estacado tomorrow as Levelland and the Lady Matadors face off with both having one loss in district, along with Lubbock-Cooper Liberty and the winner will have a leg up for the District 5-4 A title. The Loboettes toughed out a big win the first time they met; will the Lady Mats get their lick back tomorrow night?!?!?? I’ll be there to find out🤞🏽🤞🏽

In 3-5A , the TOUGHEST district in the state, #4 Tascosa is coming off of a loss to #1 ranked Monterey, 60-44 on Tuesday Night. Next, they get the fifth-ranked Amarillo Sandies at home for a crucial game tomorrow, regarding their district title chances. Amarillo and Monterey are tied atop the district with 12-1 records, while Tascosa is now 10-2 and will need this victory to stay in the hunt for the crown.

Now with what happened Tuesday, Monterey can clinch the 3-5A title outright with a win over Amarillo on Tuesday regardless. And we still have to talk about Big School and Small School’s split as I think Monterey and whoever gets the fourth seed between Lubbock-Cooper, Lubbock High and Plainview will go small, while Amarillo and Tascosa will go big school; due to larger enrollment numbers. This win could spur the Lady Rebels off to a confidence builder for the playoffs as they will be expected to make a deep run in 5A.
Here are the standings for both districts I discussed.
