The Amarillo Sandies, coming into this contest tied at the top of District 3-5A with #2 Monterey and #6 Tascosa, knows how important it is to take care of business in games they should win.

In this game, they didn’t waste any time putting it away. Bella Edwards, the 2025 Oral Roberts Commit, hit five three-pointers in the first half and ended the game with 27 points as the Sandies won the contest over the Coronado Mustangs, 71-24

The first half sealed the victory for Coach Jeff Williams and Amarillo as they jumped out to a 28-12 lead, going into the third quarter. Cania Mitchell played exceptional defense the entire game along with the rest of the Sandies and after the half, the Sandies outscored Coronado, 24-7 in the third period and cruised to their 23rd victory of the year.

As stated earlier, this win was huge for district play as Monterey, Tascosa and Amarillo are tied atop 3-5A with 9-1 records as we head to the final stretch of the regular season.
