STORM DOMINATE FEVER TO GO OVER .500 ON THE SEASON

Seattle and Indiana matched up for the second time this season and Indiana came into the game trying to get a win over the Storm, unlike the last meeting where Seattle won the contest.

In the first, the Storm started out with a 10-0 run to take a 12-4 lead with seven minutes left in the opening frame with threes from Skylar Diggins-Smith and Jewell Loyd. With the score, 17-7 in favor of the Storm, the Fever scored five-straight with buckets from Caitlin Clark and NaLyssa Smith to make it 17-12 with 3:23 to go in the first. Kelsey Mitchell and Loyd’s 11 points in the first quarter for the Storm made the score 27-20 after the first.

In quarter two, Clark and Skylar hit threes for each team and Clark hit a layup the next possession to cut the Storm’s lead to 30-27, halfway through the second. The rest of quarter was back-and-forth as Clark got hot and Loyd counter-attacked all quarter and the Storm went into the half with the lead, 47-41.

The Storm came out of the half raining with a 13-2 run to push their lead to 59-43 with seven minutes to go in the third. Seattle kept that margin throughout the quarter and then tallied 34 points in the quarter and went 12-17 from the field to take a 81-59 lead, heading to the last period.

In the last period, it was all but over as Seattle improved their record to 4-3 on the season with a 103-88 win over Indiana, who drop to 1-8 on the year. The Storm, who ended up with a season-high point total on the season, had five players in double figures and were led by Loyd’s 22 points and six assists. Caitlin Clark ended up with 20 points and nine assists in the game.
