Shallowater, Texas—- in a key game in district 2-3A The Shallowater Mustangs and the Slaton Tigers faced off for supremacy, a top the standings. Their last game was decided by a game winner from Slaton, so this game was going to be fun.

To start the game, Slaton and Shallowater both traded buckets in the quarter that saw the Mustangs take a 13-12 lead after the quarter. Daniel Payne and Micah Blackshear both played well fo their respective teams in that stanza.
In the second quarter, Slaton started the tilt with a 10-2 run, which was followed by a 6-0 run from the Mustangs and the halftime score was 29-28, in favor of the Tigers. Micah Blackshear and Logan Winn were both over double figures in the half while holding Slaton’s Braeshon Kennard to only three points in the half.

After a halftime adjustment, the Mustangs went on a 20-2 run to begin the third quarter, led by the hustle and key plays from Champ Clanahan; who finished with double figures in the contest, along with key defensive stops and rebounds throughout the contest.
In the fourth, with a 53-40 lead, the Mustangs and Tigers both scored 15 in the period and Shallowater handed Slaton their first district loss, 68-55. Micah Blackshear finished with 24 points to lead all scorers, while Logan Winn totaled 21 for Shallowater as well. Braeshon finished with 13 points to lead the Tigers scoring efforts on the night. Both teams are now 10-1 in district play with three games left for both squads. They could tie for the district title and may end up playing eachother again for the #1 seed in the playoffs.
