Lubbock, TX—- Lubbock High’s Westerners came into their third game of the season hungry for a win after a couple of tough defeats to Hereford and Big Spring to start their 2025 campaign. Snyder’s Tigers came into this Thursday night matchup splitting their first two games of the season and wanting to get a quality win versus a 5A opponent in Lubbock and go over the .500 mark.

In the first quarter, the Tigers drove it all the way to the Westerners’ 17 yard line before Lubbock High stopped Snyder on a 4th-down attempt and then took their first offensive drive for 80 yards on seven plays and scored on a touchdown pass from Zach Reyna to Denzel Robins to make the score, 7-0 Lubbock with 6:45 left in the first.
After another 3-and-out forced by Lubbock’s defense, Bo Davis scored on an electrifying 57-yard touchdown run to make the score, 14-0 in favor of Lubbock High before they pushed it out to a 21-0 lead with a 20-yard touchdown run from Anthony Boyd with 11:45 left in the half.
Snyder finally got on the board with a touchdown with 10:49 left in the second on a 11-yard touchdown run to make the score Lubbock 21, Snyder 7. Lubbock High then dominated the rest of the way, outscoring the Tigers, 28-0 in the second and third quarter en route to a 48-21 win to secure their first victory of the season. Zachary Reyna had four touchdown passes and there was a balanced attack on the ground from three different tailbacks.
Lubbock High has turned the corner and they look very good as they prepare to try to put a winning streak together before their tough district schedule begins. Coach Rodriguez has a young and dangerous team that will only get better throughout the season: I can’t wait to see how they progress this fall!
