The 2024-25 basketball season is about halfway through and I’ve watched 63 games live and over 200 hours of HUDL film too. So, here are some young men that are playing exceptional this season and their stock is rising!
DOMINIC FULTON- PLAINVIEW HS–2026
Dominic is 6’3” and weighs 175 pounds. His game is smooth and his jumper is consistent. Can get up off the floor quickly and plays commendable defense. It’ll be imperative that he gets on a great summer team that will get some eyes on him. He can play next level; he’s got the goods.
ELIJAH SOMTHERS- MONTEREY HS – 2026
Elijah is 6’3” and 175 pounds too! Every game that I check on his stats or watch him live, he’s hitting 25-30 points and he has the intangibles to be a great leader for Coach Davis and the Monterey Plainsmen. He’s not scared of the moment.
TOOKIE JOHNSON- LUB. COOPER LIBERTY-2026
Tookie’s has a great skill set and his jumper is pure: he can be counted on to make the clutch shots as well. He’s finding his way with Lubbock-Cooper Liberty as that team is young, but will be dangerous in the next year and beyond under Coach Hicks. A big summer is on the way for Johnson.
JACKSON FUNK- LUB. COOPER LIBERTY- 2027
Jackson has unlimited range and is dangerous on the drive to the bucket. He doesn’t get as many shots as a lot of players on this list, but he makes the attempts he gets. It’s going to be scary to see where his game is next year as he is only a Sophomore and his game is crisp already!
DARION DUVALL- ABERNATHY HS- 2027
Darion has it in him; it’s in his bloodline as all his family are superior athletes! It’s his turn now and he will take full advantage of it. He’s had a few 40-point games this year and he slashes to the cup better than most players I’ve seen so far. But, his jumper and pull-up game is nice too. The sky is the limit for this Sophomore.
LOGAN WINN- SHALLOWATER HS- 2027
Logan’s been putting in the work and it’s showing on the court. I went to check him out against #9 Slaton and he didn’t disappoint as he hit a ton of clutch shots and showed poise under duress against the Tigers’ stingy defense. He has time to grow only being a Sophomore, but his game is nice and will only get better as he adds more tools to his bag.
COLBY COOK-NEW HOME HS-2026
Colby can do it all for Coach Abney and the New Home Leopards; from clamp defense, to making a clutch shot to seal a game. He is very animated and hungry: He takes no plays off! Any coach would love to have him as he will make the sacrifices for his team’s success.
CUDA CLAYTON- PALO DURO HS- 2026
Cuda is an attacker that will finish the and-one every time. I saw him live against Monterey earlier this season and he is very quick and hard to guard one-on-one. Tenacious on the defensive end too and is a leader for Coach Loftis and the Palo Duro Dons.
COOPER CARTHEL- LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN- 2026
Colby’s game is smooth and he can finish at all three levels for the Eagles of Lubbock Christian. He is also a stopper on defense too. Colby will have a big summer as long as he is on the right circuit to get some looks. His game translates to the next level easily.
HARRISON JONES- LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN- 2027
Harrison is 6’7”, so the size is there and he is only a Sophomore! He has range out to 25-feet and finishes strong in the paint to boot. I like his game and he will be a big recruit for West Texas in the coming year or so.
