806 football is here now and we couldn’t be more excited for another great season of gridiron action. The football schedule starts on Thursday with some great games coming across all classifications. The highlight of the schedule on Thursday will be Estacado’s Matadors with a home game against a very physical Jim Ned Indians team.

The Mats’ scrimmaged Jim Ned last season in Lubbock and it was a great contest, but now this one will count in the win/loss column. How will the Indians deal with Bobby Ross Jr., Cedric Ross, Donovan Torrez, James Bozeman, Vershauundrick Smith and the rest of the team that is loaded, and now being directed by Eric Ward— who will take the Head coaching job for Estacado and the job does come with lofty expectations.

Another great matchup, or let me say has the potential to be a great matchup, is the Palo Duro Dons against the Tascosa Rebels on Thursday. I immediately look at the rosters and see that Aushaun Wilson has transferred into Palo Duro and they also have Darien Lewis; who is a lethal DI prospect with a ton of DI offers. But will that be enough to stop Tascosa as they have just reloaded under Coach Ken Plunk and have a plethora of studs including elite prospect, TJ Tillman. It’ll come down to turnovers and ball control.
Also, Sundown will take on Shamrock and Amarillo will take a trip to Ratliff Stadium in Odessa to take on the Bronchos. Stay tuned here for updates on these games as 806 Football has arrived! Let’s rock…
