IN A STACKED 3A DII REGION, IDALOU LOOKS TO RISE TO THE TOP IN 2024

Idalou is always one of the top teams in the 806, and in Texas seemingly every year. The 2024 edition of the Wildcats should be no different as they bring back some key players and will have another set of great coaches, led by Coach Clay White; who has one of the best resumes in the game!

In 2-3A DII, Idalou will have some familiar faces in Roosevelt and Littlefield, and will add another great team to their district in the Muleshoe Mules. The Wildcats come in ranked #15th in their Region to start the season and the tough schedule early for the ‘Cats will provide some experience and readiness for their 3A DII playoff run.

While at practice earlier in the week, I noticed Coach White making sure the Wildcats were attentive and focused as he wanted them to speed up in their drills and make sure to stay locked in as he felt that was one of their reasons for coming up short last season in the playoffs and he wanted to fix that. Lucas Jarnagin will be counted on to lead the way for the Wildcats as well as players like Gentry Pounds.

How will the Idalou Wildcats fare this season? I think they’ll be in the Regional Round game once again, probably against Canadian again, for a shot at the State Quarterfinals. Here is the Wildcats schedule, video preview and outlook for 2024.
