NEW YEAR, SAME EXPECTATIONS: CANADIAN TO THE STATE SEMIS..

There are three things always promised in life: Death, Taxes and Canadian in the mix for a State Title in Texas High School Football— every year! So, what does the season hold for this year’s version of the Canadian Wildcats?

This season, the Wildcats return some great players and none of those bigger that Wyatt Davis; he’s a special player for Canadian at the linebacker position as he made All-State last season and led his team to another 3A DII State Semifinal appearance. There will be other players such as Kamden Sanchez, Camden Cook and Clay Kendall that will have to step up and keep the train rolling for Coach Cavalier and the Wildcats.

In Canadian’s district are some familiar foes with Dimmitt, Childress, Friona and Tulia; a winnable district and a first round game, probably against Slaton in early November would be next. The question that we all will have is obviously…Can the Wildcats get through Gunter this season? The Tigers have been a thorn in the Wildcats side the last few years and it’s proven that the team that wins this game, wins the State Title game most of the time.

This will be another 14-0 start for Canadian I feel, and they will have to buckle up and get by Gunter to realize their dream of a State Title. Let the games begin!
