WITH MOVE UP TO 2A DI, WILL NEW HOME CONTINUE THEIR SUCCESS IN 2024?

In 2022, New Home made it to the State Semifinal game and lost to the eventual State Champions from Albany. In last year’s competition, the Leopards lost in the Area Round to the 2A DII State Semifinalists from Sunray after going undefeated in their district.

So, what will we get from the New Home squad this season that’s led by Coach Jon Ward? Well, first off, the Leopards have moved up a classification into 2A DI and will face stiffer competition in a district with Abernathy, New Deal, Floydada, Olton and Post now in 2-2A DI. Dave Campbell’s predicts the Leopards to finish second in their district, while Abernathy is projected to finish first— and they are moving down from 3A DII this fall.

With returning players like Caleb Cook— the electric quarterback for the Leopards, along with Barron Bass, Colby Cook, Jake Forgerson and Ryder Starky, expect the Leopards to make a run for the district title with their game against the Abernathy Antelopes most-likely deciding that district’s winner.
