WNBA SATURDAY “CAPS” MINNESOTA POWERS OVER LIBERTY, OGUNBOWALE EXPLODES FOR 40 IN WIN

Saturday was filled with five great matchups in the “W” as the New York Liberty had a Noon Central time tip against Minnesota, while the Wings of Dallas finished off the night with a game in Phoenix against the Mercury. Let’s recap Saturday’s action.

CONNECTICUT 86 CHICAGO 82

The Sun remained the only team in the WNBA with an unblemished record with an 86-82 win over the Chicago Sky— who now are 2-2 on the year. Dewanna Bonner had 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Sun while Chicago’s Marina Mabrey finished the night with 23 points, five rebounds and four assists. The game had its share of drama as Alyssa Thomas of the Sun was ejected for a hard foul on the Sky’s Angel Reese.

MINNESOTA 84 NEW YORK 67

The Lynx pounced on the Liberty early in the game as evidenced by the score after the first quarter: 31-17, Lynx. Minnesota also outscored New York, 18-9 in the fourth quarter as Napheesa Collier ended the night with 15 points and 12 rebounds in their 84-67 win. The Lynx have a 3-1 record on the year while New York drops their second-straight game and now holds a 4-2 record.

LAS VEGAS 99 INDIANA 80

A’ja Wilson had 29 points and 15 rebounds and Kate Martin scored 12 points and tallied seven rebounds in 22 minutes for the Aces in their 99-80 win over the Indiana Fever. Temi Fagbenle scored 13 points and added eight rebounds for the Fever; who drop to 1-6 on the season. The Aces are now 3-1 on the year and will start their first road trip of the season next week.

SEATTLE 101 WASHINGTON 69

The Storm routed the Mystic, 101-69 and kept Washington winless on the season as their record is now 0-6. Seattle had four players with double-digit stat lines and had a great team effort in the win.

DALLAS 107 PHOENIX 92

Arike Ogunbowale scored 40 points for the Dallas Wings as they went into Phoenix and dominated the Mercury, 107-92. Maddy Siegrist also scored 22 for Dallas on the night. The Mercury’s Kahleah Copper scored 32 points and Diana Taurasi had 28 points and five rebounds in a losing effort. Dallas improved to 2-2 on the year, while Phoenix falls to 3-2 on the season.
