The WNBA had three games tonight on Thursday, May 23 and the games were headlined by Chicago’s Sky going on the road to take on the New York Liberty — who were 4-0, heading into the matchup with Chicago. Let’s recap this game, along with the other two games on the slate tonight.


Chicago’s Marina Mabrey racked up 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead the Sky to a win over the previously undefeated New York Liberty, 90-81. The rookie Angel Reese also played well with 13 points and nine rebounds in the win. Michaela Onyenwere also scored 13 points for the Sky, who are now 2-1 on the season, while New York falls to 4-1 on the year.

Alyssa Thomas had 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists, along with the go-ahead field goal in Overtime to help propel the Sun to a 83-82 win over Minnesota. Napheesa Collier scored 31 points on the night along with four rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Lynx— who suffered their first loss on the season to fall to 2-1 while Connecticut remains the only undefeated team in the WNBA at 4-0 on the year.

With the score sitting at 46-45 with the Washington Mystics in the lead to start the third quarter, the Mercury went on a 15-0 run to take a 60-46 lead late in the third quarter and never looked back in a tight win, 83-80. There were over 7,400 fans in attendance to see Natasha Cloud with 14 points, 10 assists and five rebounds for the Mercury; which was her second-straight double-double. Diana Taurasi also had 20 points tonight help to push Phoenix’s record to 3-1, while Washington falls to 0-5 on the year.
