NBA PLAYOFF CENTRAL DAY ONE: LAKERS FALTER LATE, TIMBERWOLVES SURGE

Cleveland— Day one of the NBA Playoffs started with a bang as ESPN/ABC had a quadruple-header that started with the Orlando Magic at the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs’ Donovan Mitchell impressed with a 30-point game to lead Cleveland to victory, 97-83 to take a 1-0 series lead over the Magic in a physical game.

Minnesota— Game two pitted the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Phoenix Suns in Minnesota. Anthony Edwards tallied 18 of his 33 points in the third quarter to propel the Timberwolves to a 120-95 win over Phoenix to take a 1-0 series lead.

New York— Game three saw New York open up their series against the injured Philadelphia 76ers. Tyrese Maxey put up 33 for Philly in the loss to the Knicks, 111-104 as Josh Hart scored a clutch 22 points for the Knickerbockers to take a 1-0 lead over the 76ers.

Denver— The final game of the night saw the Denver Nuggets pull away from the Los Angeles Lakers late, 114-103. Lebron James and Anthony Davis combined for 59 points for Los Angeles but D’Angelo Russell struggled from the field and Jokic had 32 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists and ended up with +14 on the night as the Nuggets came back from a 12-point deficit in the second quarter and never looked back.
